About Kris

Kris Nettnin was a beloved husband, devoted father, loyal friend, and a pillar in both his professional and personal communities. Born and raised in Greece, NY, he was known for his strong will, adventurous spirit, and generous heart. He graduated from Greece Athena High School in 1997 and went on to earn degrees from Finger Lakes Community College and RIT. Kris built a life full of laughter, love, and purpose—whether through sports, music, coaching, or his 23-year career at Function 5 Technology, where he rose to Vice President of IT.

Above all, Kris cherished his family. Kris met his wife Heather in high school – they were married in 2004 and welcomed their son Austin in 2010. Becoming a father was Kris’s greatest joy. Austin was the center of his world and he poured his heart into every moment with him—whether coaching his teams or cheering from the sidelines, sharing adventures on family vacations and camping trips and attending various other sporting events; especially Buffalo Bills and Rochester Knighthawks games.

In 2023, Kris was diagnosed with stage 4 prostate cancer. He faced the news with incredible strength, choosing to fight with everything he had. Through treatments and medical trials, he never let cancer define him. He remained the go-to person for everyone—always willing to lend a hand, fix a problem, or offer a laugh. He was a mentor, a coach, and a man whose presence made people feel supported and seen.

Kris passed away on February 1, 2025, at the age of 46. His memory lives on through the love he shared, the friendships he nurtured, and the example he set—especially for Austin.

This fundraiser is dedicated to supporting Austin’s future in honor of the man who gave so much to others. Thank you for helping us carry forward Kris’s memory and the values he held close: family, kindness, hard work, loyalty, determination, courage and heart.
